During the winter months when their is hardly any sunlight, we are more susceptible to illness. Being ill is never convenient and you reading this indicates your search for a proactive way to counter this problem. Within this blog you will find the necessary means to potentially prevent falling ill and/or if you do, a hack to get you back to business as healthily as possible.
Prevention
Your immune system becomes compromised when ill. Zinc makes up 66% of your immune system. By taking the Recommended Daily Amount of a zinc supplement (see bottle) you can potentially avoid falling ill.
It has been reported that in the U.K. between October and March, synthesis of vitamin D may be almost impossible and therefore, the majority of the UK population may be vitamin D deficient and so more susceptible to infection. Furthermore the higher an individuals body fat, the greater their risk of falling ill. I have read three articles stating vitamin D3 reduces body fat and so illness. One particular study states that the prehistoric male/female needed more fat in winter to survive, roughly 5%. Lack of sun in winter results in less Vit D3 absorption so a message is sent to the body to store fat. So more Vit D3 results in the switching off of fat storing gene. The solution to supplement with (RDA) Vitamin D3 to boost your immune system.
Hacking your cold/virus
When suffering from illness, you can lose up to 15% muscle mass (catabolic). To counter this, consume: more protein, (RDA) Branch Chain Amino Acids and Glutamine to replenish muscle fibres.
I have personally successfully tried and tested all of the above solutions for over 10 years and would strongly recommend you give these a go.
